Preview Dinner at Bloozz for Bonaire Culinair

Wines and More

Last week, we had the opportunity to enjoy a preview of the 3-course dinner menu that Bloozz is serving during the Bonaire Culinair event (May 29th – June 12th). Nestled in Belnem, this laid-back yet refined restaurant offers a fresh take on Caribbean dining — making it a spot well worth discovering if you’re exploring the island’s food scene.

Tropical Charm and Friendly Vibes

Just minutes from Bachelors Beach, Bloozz blends casual island ambiance with thoughtful design. Under the shelter of a traditional Caribbean palapa, you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush tropical plants, the gentle sound of Caribbean music, and a softly glowing pool in the background — the perfect setting for a romantic evening or a relaxed get-together.

The decor feels curated but never forced. Think handmade lighting using natural materials, quirky wooden signs, and a warm, welcoming aesthetic that brings the Caribbean indoors without overdoing it. It’s inviting, a little whimsical, and full of personality.

The 3-Course Menu: Creative, Colorful, and Delicious

At $39.50, the Bonaire Culinair menu offers two starters, three mains, and two desserts to choose from — each one carefully put together, thoughtfully crafted, and full of flavor.

We started with both available appetizers. The duo fish carpaccio, a vibrant plate featuring slices of tuna and mahi-mahi, was topped with wasabi mayo, wakame, pickled ginger, citrus gel, and a crunchy crumble. It looked as good as it tasted — light, fresh, and the perfect start to the evening.

The bruschetta, topped with prosciutto, creamy burrata, and artichoke pesto, was rich and flavorful, offering a satisfying contrast. A strong start that highlighted the kitchen’s attention to both presentation and balance.

For the main course, we chose the sirloin steak, paired with a neatly layered potato terrine, asparagus, confit shallots, red beet cream, and a rich black garlic jus. The plate was generous, and the combination of flavors — earthy, savory, slightly sweet — worked beautifully together.

If you’re in the mood for something plant-based, the gnocchi with mushrooms, butternut squash, and sunflower seeds is a hearty and elegant vegetarian option. And for those leaning toward seafood, the local fish dish with roasted cauliflower, cherry confit, and carrot-ginger-lime cream looked just as enticing — we’ll be back for that one.

We ended with a local touch: the Arepa Pampuna, a pumpkin pancake served with Malaga ice cream, salted rum caramel, and crushed nuts. It was a comforting, spiced dessert with just the right balance of sweetness and texture.

The chococake, layered with cheese cream, cookie crumble, and dulce de leche, was rich and decadent — a perfect treat for chocolate lovers.
